Thunder Recreational Gymnastics Carnival 2026
A positive recreational carnival where gymnasts perform familiar level skills and receive useful Gold/Silver/Bronze skill feedback.
What is the recreational gymnastics carnival?
This is an optional, friendly recreational gymnastics carnival — a chance for gymnasts to show family and friends what they have been learning in class, perform their skills in front of others and celebrate their progress. No previous carnival experience is required.
Participation is completely optional. The aim is to give gymnasts a fun goal to work towards and a chance to proudly show what they have learnt.
Who can enter
Boys Gymnastics, Girls Gymnastics, FreeG, Tumbling.
Not included: GymFun, KinderGym, Adults.
The carnival format
Gymnasts will be placed in a group suited to their programme and level and allocated to an approximately one-hour carnival session. Groups will be staggered through the 10:00 am–2:00 pm carnival window.
After check-in and a group warm-up, gymnasts move through their scheduled skill areas, perform the selected skills and receive feedback as they go. Coaches and event staff guide each stage so first-time participants know where to go and what to do.
How the day will run
1. Arrive and check in. Gymnasts meet their group and get ready with support from Thunder staff.
2. Warm up together. Each group completes an age- and level-appropriate warm-up before beginning.
3. Rotate through skill areas. Gymnasts perform the skills selected for their programme or level. The focus is on safe technique, confidence and showing what they can do.
4. Receive feedback and celebrate. Gymnasts leave with a clear record of their achievements and positive areas to keep working on.
The detailed group, allocated start time and running order will be confirmed after entries close. Families will receive arrival and session information before the event.
How feedback works
Each listed skill is considered against simple key performance criteria. Gold, Silver or Bronze feedback shows how confidently and consistently the skill was performed on the day.
This is skill-by-skill feedback, not a ranking of gymnasts. It gives families an easy-to-understand snapshot of strengths and next steps.
What to wear and bring
Normal gymnastics training attire unless otherwise advised.
Please bring a named water bottle and any personal items your gymnast normally needs for training. Further arrival and event-day details will be sent to entrants.
