Thunder Homeschool Gymnastics Carnival 2026
A relaxed, supportive gymnastics showcase created especially for Thunder's Homeschool gymnasts.
What is a gymnastics carnival?
A gymnastics carnival is an optional, relaxed celebration of learning. It is a great opportunity for homeschool gymnasts to show family and friends what they have been working on, perform familiar skills in a supportive setting, build confidence and celebrate how far they have come. There is no requirement to take part, and gymnasts do not need previous carnival experience.
Participation is completely optional. It is designed to be encouraging and enjoyable — a chance to show off the skills gymnasts have been learning, try performing in front of others and celebrate progress with their family and the Thunder community.
Who it is for
This carnival is for gymnasts enrolled in Thunder's Artistic Homeschool Primary, Middle and High programmes. No previous carnival experience is needed.
Activities will be matched to the gymnast's current programme, age and the skills they have been learning in class.
The carnival format
Gymnasts will take part in a friendly group format and be allocated to an approximately one-hour carnival session. Groups will be staggered through the 10:00 am–2:00 pm event window.
After check-in and a shared warm-up, groups rotate through a selection of gymnastics activities and skill areas. Coaches guide the groups so gymnasts can focus on having a go, performing familiar skills and enjoying the experience.
How the day will run
1. Welcome and check-in. Gymnasts meet their group and settle into the venue.
2. Group warm-up. Everyone prepares together with activities suited to the group.
3. Gymnastics rotations. Groups move through their planned activities, with time to demonstrate skills and celebrate their progress.
4. Celebration. The carnival finishes by recognising participation, effort and what each gymnast has achieved.
The detailed group, allocated start time and running order will be confirmed after bookings close. Entrants will receive arrival information before the carnival.
What to wear and bring
Normal gymnastics training attire unless otherwise advised.
Please bring a named water bottle and any personal items your gymnast normally needs for class. Further event-day information will be sent to booked families.
